As the projection designer of the Addams Family production at the School of Theatre and Dance, Illinois State University, I took on the task of crafting visual elements that added depth and ambiance to the performance. My role centered around the creation of compelling images and videos used as projections throughout the play.
One notable highlight was the creation of a mesmerizing night sky video, featuring a looping sequence of a moon surrounded by ethereal clouds. This enchanting visual became a focal point during intermissions and seamlessly intertwined with various scenes, enhancing the overall atmospheric quality of the production.
Another standout moment was the design of a dynamic video sequence portraying Fester's journey into the night sky using a rocket to reunite with his celestial lover, the moon. This visually stunning segment added a touch of magic (and comedy) to one of the final songs, elevating the emotional impact of the narrative.
In addition to these videos, I crafted two evocative images depicting Central Park at night and a haunting cemetery gate. These visuals played a crucial role in establishing the atmospheric setting for key scenes, immersing the audience in the mysterious and captivating world of the Addams Family.
This project allowed me to blend creativity with technical proficiency, contributing to the overall success of the production by providing a visually compelling backdrop that complemented and enhanced the storytelling on stage.
